LCA Calhoun is an absolutely, stunning fawn suri herdsire. His apricot fleece screams with extreme luster. His fleece was awarded, "Best Luster" out of over 200 suri fleece entries at the 2006 Suri Network fleece show, along with the fawn color championship. As a side note another LCA herdsire won the 2007 "Best Luster" award.
When selecting potential herdsires we put a significant amount of emphasis on the dam. Both her phenotype and genotype. Doing so improves our confidence that the herdsire under selection is likely to be pre-potent for the traits we value. Calhoun's dam Ivory Bells has produced three champion offspring in a row. All three of her cria have been blessed with the highest luster suri fleece we can produce. We have retained all three of her offspring as foundation suris in our elite breeding program. We are extremely excited that at least one of her offspring has been a male, which will allow us to infuse these superior genetics across our herd.
Calhoun's sire Teton produces many of our very best suris period. Calhoun is no exception. Teton is one of our longest standing herdsires and we are excited that we have Calhoun to ensure the continuation of both Teton's and Ivory Bell's legacy within our herd.
